Picking Strawberries

A few weeks ago I took Nathaniel to Seiple's Farms to pick strawberries.  It was great..early morning on a weekday so there weren't many people there.  The strawberries were so great....huge and red!!!!  Nathaniel loved the tractor ride to the field and picking the strawberries....although he will not eat them...he has tried them and does not like them.  I was so embarassed the farmer came out to the field while we were picking and said Nathaniel should eat one and tell him how it is....Nathaniel looked at him with a complete serious face and said "I don't eat these because I don't like them.  Mom is getting me a watermelon later"  Nice!!  We managed to pick 9 pounds of strawberries.  I made a homemade strawberry cake, strawberry jam, fruit salad, and of course shortcakes.

I like this.....

Outside my window... Sunshine finally

I am thinking... about how I would love a good nights sleep

I am thankful for... air conditioning and a healthy family

From the kitchen... nothing tonight...hot dogs from Jimmy's

I am wearing... a purple shirt and really old very stretchy grey sweat shorts...its all about comfort now people!!

I am creating... lots

I am going... to bed soon...and to VBS tomorrow and hopefully to hang out in the sun

I am reading... magazines and school stuff

I am hoping... that the next 8 1/2 weeks pass quickly like the first 31 have

I am hearing... Sprout on TV

Around the house... Kevin is painting the nursery, Molly is sleeping on the chase, and Nathaniel is jumping on the couch (guess I need to deal with that)

One of my favorite things... my new camera!!

A few plans for the rest of the week: clean, take Nathaniel to VBS do some work, schoolwork too, and spent time outside

Decorating the Baby's room

On Friday I took Hailee and Nathaniel to the local Pottery shop to each pick out and paint something for the baby's room. It went fairly well.  Nathaniel pretty much did everything by himself and so did Hailee.  Nathaniel also enjoyed picking out his own paint colors and the huge array of brushes to choose from.  Hailee painted a yellow piggy bank with lime green polka dots and Nathaniel painted a yellow duck with a multi-colored head...lol.  The pottery gets fired this week and will be avaiable for pick-up Friday...I can't wait to see what they look like.  I think it will be a really nice touch to the baby's room esp. because his/her big brother and cousin made them!!

Camping with Mom and Dad in Cape May

Its been a while and I have a bunch of posts to catch up on.  First though...we went camping in Cape May, NJ with my mom and dad.  This may seem pretty average to most, but we had a few special circumstances....1st  - this was my parents first time camping: how would they like it?  2nd - at 29 weeks pregnant, how would I do?  3rd - since we live in a rain forest - how would the weather be?  Well I am pleased to say mom and dad did great and seemed to really enjoy it.....the weather could not have been any nicer....and I..well I hung in there.  Finally feeling some tiring and painful effects from the pregnancy, but still glad we went.  My parents took us out for a great dinner at the Lobster House the night we arrived.  The next day we had an awesome breakfast at Bill's Pancake House, did a little shopping, and hung out at the campground lake all day.  Nathaniel loved the water and was very happy being there.  We cooked on the fire for dinner and headed to the ocean to fly our kite.  It was very cool..while there we found some great sea glass, flew the kite, saw dolphins, and watched a man catch a shark!!  Finally the follwing day we left and went to the Cape May Zoo (I would highly recommend this place).  I got a lot of practice with my new camera too!!

Weekend at Knoebels

This weekend we headed off for our first camping trip of the year.  We stayed right at the campground at Knoebels.  It was a great time.  We got there Friday right after the rain stopped.  We set up the camper...so much easier than the old tent camping!!  Then we took a walk to the park and let Nathaniel go on rides.  The park was empty so it was perfect.  Saturday we woke up, went into the park for a yummy breakfast and headed back to the campsite to wait for my parents who were headed up for the day.  Once they arrived we headed back to the park where everyone (even me) got on plenty of rides.  Nathaniel is a riding maniac....he loved the log flume.  He went on with my mom and Kevin, he loves driving any type of car and he even put up with the train so his pregnant mama could ride something with him.  Molly came along with us and was, as usual, an excellent traveler.  She rode in the stroller when Nathaniel wasn't and when he was in it she rode underneath.  People couldn't get enough of her and truth be told niether could I.  We headed home Sunday morning and caught up on the normal wash and cleaning.

In other news 10 weeks and counting until the baby and we really need to start working on the nursery...we have started, but there is plenty more to be done.

Weekend at the beach and my new camera!!

We headed to Wildwood Crest this weekend for a little get away this weekend. It was perfect....we had a nice Ocean View room and since it was a package we were able to go to the boardwalk and water park for free plus to a great restaurant for dinner.  Nathaniel really isn't into the baby rides anymore ....he is all about the big roller coasters and pretty much anything that goes high and fast.  He was quite happy with the variety of rides they had.  It was really a perfect weekend....we spend Sat morning until lunch on the beach..building castles, flying kites, and frolicking in the ocean.  Then we headed back to the hotel and Kevin and Nathaniel hung out in the pool and hot tub.  Nathaniel had a quick lunch and then we headed down to the boardwalk.  Nathaniel and Kevin went to the water park while I wandered around and read a book....ok being pregnant wasn't exactly fun while Kevin and Nathaniel went on rides, but it was okay...I just hung out with the baby...lol.  We headed to a yummy dinner and back to the boardwalk for some games and rides.  By the time we got back to the hotel at 11pm we were all beat.  Nathaniel slept until 8:30am on Sunday...that was so great!!  We had breakfast and headed home....happy, well sunned, and tired.

While we were gone my new camera came..it is so great..I can't wait till I take the classes on using it!!

Busy Weekend and Baby Preperations

Wow we have been pretty busy lately.  We had an awesome yard sale Memorial Day weekend and brought in $546!!!!  We were hoping to do well so we could purchase a new Digital SLR camera before the baby comes and I am happy to say after some quality time together at Dan's Camera City this week our new Canon Rebel SLR is on its way here!!!!! YEAH!!!!  I love photography and am soooo excited to get my hands on it.  It came with a pretty good lens and we ordered the next one up right off the bat and also signed up for classes at Dan's on how to use it to its full potential. (Thanks Patty :-)  Sunday was a nice relaxing family day at home and a yummy cookout on the grill for the 3 of us.  It was a good break from the hustle of a long weekend.  We also always enjoy watching the Indy 500 so that was fun.  Monday we headed to the Memorial Day Parade in Nazareth which Kevin was in this year.  And in the afternoon went to my parents for the annual picnic.  So loving yummy picnic food right now!!  The kids had a blast taking crazy wagon rides courtesy of Kevin and then playing with water balloons.  We have a big weekend planned....more pics and a post to follow.

One Little Word - Two

OLW - 51 I created a page for the One Little Word Group.  The word was 2 and since we are expecting a baby in 14 weeks I decided to do a "pregnancy LO". Kevin took this picture of Nathaniel and I on Easter.  I can hardly believe we will have 2 soon and our family will be complete.

Honorary Farmers

We left on Sunday to stay at a farm B&B in Lancaster (Mt.Joy to be specific).  Nathaniel loves animals and anything farm so we thought this would be a cool and pretty inexpensive idea.  The entire 3 days were great.  There was so much to do, the food was fabulous, and the experience was like no other.  We arrived mid afternoon on Sunday and spent our time exploring the farm.  From seeing the 75+ baby calves, the pregnant cows, hens, horse, goat, and farm cats, to playing on the swings, and checking out the fishing meadow there was plenty to do.  It became clear quickly that Nathaniel was going to love this trip.  We got a bite to eat and when we got back Nathaniel busied himself playing with the other kids staying at the farm.  There was a garage filled with various ride ons(John Deere of course) and all kinds of toys.  There was an adorable wooden playhouse with an identical house next to it for the cats.  Monday morning we got up and headed down to the calves where we were able to feed them by bottle.  This was an amazing experience and I think we all loved it.  Then off to the hen house where we collected some fresh eggs for breakfast.  Speaking of breakfast...what a spread.  The farmer's wife prepared eggs, hash browns, pancakes, toast, creamed chipped beef, fruit, and a blueberry (still warm) breakfast cake that was "to die" for.  After that the farmer brought the miniature horse up and took all of the kids for rides, then brought out a barrel train and took them for a long ride on that.  Finally he brought out the big wagon and hay ride trailer and took us on a 30 minute tour of the area.  Everyone loved it!!  We crossed 2 covered bridges and looked at many farms.  We actually spent the entire day on the farm.  We hung out in the pasture with Cookie the horse and Oreo the goat.  They were so friendly and approachable.  We spend a good deal of time in the hen house (Nathaniel loved it) hand feeding them and actually saw one lay an egg.  Nathaniel and I played on the swing set while Kevin did a little fishing and then we all took a little nap.  In the afternoon we went to the milking parlor to watch and assist in milking the cows.  It is an amazing process and a real learning experience.  Finally we went to a restaurant for dinner (that the B&B recommended) and had what may have been the best dutch food ever!!  We were so full....it was great!!  We headed back for some more farm fun.  Today we woke up and fed the calves again, had another delicious breakfast, and Nathaniel rode Cookie and took a barrel ride.  We left around 9:30am and headed to a local Farmer's Market that is open on Tuesday's (Root's).  We got some very yummy food and pretty plants and finally headed home.  The entire trip was great and we quickly decided this would be an annual event.
